I am Finally In Love With The World

Our debut performance is finally here! Our long awaited and long prepared journey culminates in this moving performance.

SYNOPSIS

A young woman goes to her grandmother's house. There is a mountain of things. She goes inside the mountain. This production explores humanity's relationship with grief, mortality and enlightenment. Inspired by the idea that to learn how to live is to first learn how to die, the work weaves together: Traditional chinese martial arts, chinese philosophy and contemporary physical theatre techniques.

I am finally in love with the world is the debut production of WUSHIREN Theatre — This original Singaporean work invites you into a space of fleeting, luminous moments to ask: what remains after everything else has fallen away?

Developed through the Scarlet Mela Festival of the Arts (2024) and the inaugural residency at the Intercultural Theatre Institute, and co-presented by WUSHIREN Theatre and Scarlet Mela Festival of the Arts.

This project is supported by the National Arts Council and National Youth Council (YCM - Youth Heritage Kickstarter Fund).

Living Taiji

Living Taiji: A 3-Hour Workshop on Applying Ancient Wisdom to Modern Life

More than ever, we face rising stress, interpersonal disconnect, and a crisis of meaning in our daily lives. Many of us are looking for a way back to clarity, to connection, and to what it means to be fully human.

What if ancient wisdom could offer us a way forward?

Taiji (太極) means “great extremes.” In its philosophy and practice, we find a way to understand the natural state of being: Inward and outward attention, giving and receiving. These could help us understand “being present” or “living in the moment”.

Join us as we demystify Taiji and shed a practical lens on how it can profoundly enhance performance, relationships and love for life. This workshop explores how the principles of Taiji can help us respond to modern challenges with presence, awareness, and flow.

How do I love?: Understanding Venus in Your Chart - Ang Kia Yee

An astrology workshop on love, desire, and conflict

How do you experience love? Is it nerve-wracking, gnarly, intoxicating, mundane, sweet, confusing, liberating?

In this workshop, we take our natal charts as personal maps to reflect on our unique ways of loving and relating. We draw upon the expansive, macro lens of astrology to look more closely at our dispositions, perspectives, approaches, strategies, and challenges when it comes to love.

Through this reflective process, you are invited to explore how you could build more intentional and meaningful connections with others. How can you love more sincerely and truthfully, as the kind of lover you are?

Taiji Yoga - Ranice Tay & Gayle Nerva

Taiji 太极 means: Great extremes. Yoga योग means: Union / to join,

Where do they intersect, and how do they differ? In this workshop, we will look at the very foundations of movement from both Yoga and Taiji such as body alignment, opposition, balance and flow. Participants will experience an original Taiji Yoga movement sequence born out of collaboration between Ranice and Gayle, as we reflect upon the embodied wisdoms of the forms and ground ourselves in the present moment.

Open House X Fundraiser (Present in the World)

WUSHIREN Theatre is entering a new creative chapter—a studio-warming, a beginning. On 29th March, we open our space with the hope that it will become fertile ground for artistic exploration and inquiry. In June 27-29, we take our first step onto the stage with I am finally in love with the world, an original production.

As we build towards this milestone, we are launching our open house, followed by a series of workshops at a later date to raise funds for our work—work that we believe in deeply. We are grateful to have already received the NAC P&P grant, but we are also fundraising to bridge the remaining costs

In a world where many forces pull us in different directions, to be truly present is a radical act. Present In The World begins with an open house, and follows up with a workshop series dedicated to cultivating awareness—of our bodies, our minds, our beings. It is an invitation to ground ourselves in the current moment, to listen deeply, and to reconnect with the wholeness of who we are.

Cost: Pay from the heart

As we are aiming to raise funds for our project in June, we have a recommendation for tiers of donation:
Tier 1: $35
Tier 2: $55
Tier 3: $100
Tier 4: Others

We recommend donations of 35 dollars and above. Any amount goes into the cost of our production and rehearsal spaces and allows us to provide fair compensation for our artists. Donations of 75 dollars and above contribute greatly to allowing us to realise our vision for our upcoming projects and 150 and above allows us to continue incubating future works.

If you are a student / No income source or find it hard to make any sort of donation, please do not feel pressured to do so. There are other ways to support our work and we warmly welcome anything that you are gracious enough to extend.
